Preparing for exams can be challenging and stressful. We have prepared examination strategies to make sure you’re more confident and prepared.

1. Make a study plan

Having a study plan can help you overcome the large amounts of tasks that you need to complete. Planning tasks ahead allows you to visualise all the tasks and see what needs to completed and when it should be done by. Study plans help you avoid cramming everything in the final days before the actual exam.

2. Organise your notes

When organising your notes, make a list of areas you need to know in each subject and write down the main headings and subheadings. You should add extra material from additional readings into your own notes. It’s important to underline, highlight and write extra comments into your notes to emphasise the ideas of each part.

3. Practice questions

When you have revised through your notes, attempting practice questions will help you be more aware of the types of questions that could potentially show up in the exam. Practicing on past questions will help you see which topics that you are struggling with so you can revise further.

Flashcards have a reputation of being a slow and boring way to study but, studying using flashcards does help students remember information and perform well in their exams.

Below are two reasons why flashcards can help you study smarter

1. Active recall

When students study, they are attempting to remember the information from just staring at PDFs and their textbooks. Flashcards allow students to engage more with their content and allows for active recall of information they are learning.

2. Confidence in repetition

Flashcards allow for students to continuously test their own knowledge of the content being examined. By using flashcards to stimulate the memory, students can become more confident when revising their content

Flashcards are an extremely useful and reliable method for students to recall information and become more confident when learning.

Learning in the classroom comes from teachers providing an inclusive atmosphere where the teachers can bring the best out of the students. We will show three ways how learning can be maximised in the class.

1. Knowing individual students

It is important for teachers to know and understand their students. Teachers should learn what motivates and excites their students to learn at a much deeper level. Teachers should not see their students as just another face in the crowd, but as a unique individual who has their own strengths. By understanding students, this will encourage them to perform at their best and make a contribution in class.

2. Assign students with tasks

Teachers shouldn’t just assess students at the end of a term. Instead, they should assign tasks to students throughout the term to track their progress. There shouldn’t be just one assessment that determines the performance of the students. Teachers should assess the students throughout the term and provide feedback on their performance.

3. Provide one to one or small group feedback sessions

Teachers should look to speak to students individually or in small groups to provide feedback. These sessions should be used to ask students on how they are performing and making sure that the students are aware and up to date. Teachers should look to understand more about the students in these sessions to build a stronger connection in class.
These are just a few ways in which learning can be maximised in the class!

How can the internet improve your education?

The internet has changed the way we used to share information. The internet has helped with allowing the students and teachers to find new information and improve their learning inside and outside the classroom. With the internet being integrated into the education system, students and teachers will all benefit.

The use of the internet in education provides students with the ability to get more useful information, to connect with learning groups and other educational systems that make their education convenient. Through the internet, social network companies collaborate with institutions providing multiple opportunities to improve learning methods.

Here are three ways the internet can improve your learning

1. Great way to do research

The internet is a great way to conduct research for primary and secondary purpose. Instead of spending large amounts of money for purchasing relevant books, students are now managing everything on internet and have access to those books and more.

2. Improve learning

Students and teachers can access a large amount of information on the internet. The internet allows for all the information to come together. Students can do self-learning and research after school to further improve their knowledge of concepts learnt in class

3. Shared learning

On the internet, the students and teachers can collaborate with other users through shared learning. There are many forums and blogs online which students and teachers can interact and discuss information with. This allows for knowledge to be shared from all around the world.

Writing stories, letters and essays can be quite intimidating for many people, particularly for those who don’t write for a living or on a regular basis. For students, writing is extremely important as almost all their subjects involve some form of writing. Here are three ways to improve your writing skills

1. Brushing up on the basics

Before students can start writing incredible content, they must first understand the basic principles of writing. Students must be aware of their grammar and punctuation. Setting up a strong foundation will set the students up to writing success.

2. Reading

Reading on a regular basis is a good way to start developing your writing skills. Diversify your reading material and be open to read about any topic. Challenge yourself and read challenging material that you would not typically read. Pay attention to the sentence structures, word choice and how well the content flows. Learn from the authors and incorporate their style into yours to expand and improve.

3. Edit your writing

Be your own harshest critic. Read through your writing and fix any errors or change how certain sentences can be written. You must be confident in your writing and if a certain paragraph or sentence doesn’t make sense, delete it and rewrite it again. By eliminating problems, your writing will only improve and you will further strengthen your writing skills.

Instilling confidence in the students

One of the greatest gifts we can give our students is to instil in them a strong sense of confidence.

Instilling confidence in the students will enable them to achieve greater success and create a strong, positive mindset. Enabling students to become more confident will help with many aspects of their school and social life.

There are many effective ways to make students more confident.

Learn to accept mistakes.

A teacher who looks down on or humiliates their students when they are making mistakes can destroy the students self-confidence. It’s important that teachers let the students understand that making errors is a normal part of the learning process and there is nothing to be ashamed of. When students make mistakes, make it a non-issue. Acknowledge it and ensure the students learn from their mistake.

Praise and encourage the students.

When the students do something well it is important to let them know they are doing great. Praise the students for their efforts and keep encouraging them to succeed.

Challenge the students academically.

It is important to give students work that will challenge them intellectually. This will force them to think at a much deeper level or think outside the box. It is also important to let the students know that the teachers do care for them and believe in them.
